State Funding Comparisons

How does Colorado's per pupil funding compare to funding in other states?

In 2007-2008, Colorado spent $1,919 less per pupil than the national average.

In 2003, Colorado spent $551 less per pupil than the national average.

The gap is widening.  As Colordo has invested in education, other states have invested more.

The following neighboring states were spending this much MORE PER PUPIL than Colorado in 2007:

  • Kansas  $2,285
  • Montana $3,786
  • Nebraska  $3,265
  • New Mexico  $1,452
  • Wyoming  $7,748
