 Powerful Presentations
Location: BlogsMonday Models Discussions

The kids in your classes are wired! (Funny how the context to that word has changed!)  We mean, of course, that they have grow up in a media-rich environment.  In tonight’s Monday Model, we’ll discuss the link between visual presentation and learning theories.  Also, we’ll learn how to super-charge our presentations with connected videos and audio.  Finally, we’ll brainstorm how PowerPoint isn’t just a teacher’s tool—it can be an excellent way for your students to demonstrate their learning.

Please post your reactions to tonight’s class and share out your “take-aways”.  Feel free to offer your instructors feedback, too.

The class was great as regards the potential for a power point presentation. I got the jist of what was being presented. I felt that things moved along a bit too quickly for me to keep up. I would have also appreciated having the sequential steps for all we did in writing. Perhaps I need to study the handouts you already have on line to see if they would meet my needs.
Thanks

Although I've done PowerPoint before, I was ready for a bit more "bling." Your class provided that. The instruction, handouts, and hands-on-time were beneficial as always. I didn't pick up everything, but I have resources to add more when I'm ready. I could probably take this class again and would pick up more as my readiness changes. Thank you!

Having the support documents on the LPS site is a great help. I left the class much less overwhelmed than I have been at other times in non-LPS classes. My brain was dancing on the drive home, contemplating all of the possibilities for using more technology in my teaching. Unfortunately, that probably won't come as soon as I would like it to. Besides all of the how-to information for creating inserts in PP files, I was pleased to hear about the research that maximizes the effects of pp presentations in classrooms. Many, many thanks.

Not only does this class provide the basics for teachers new to the technolgy or that need a review to become more grounded in its creative use in classrooms to motivate and engage students, but it also serves up twists on previous learnings or fills in missing knowledge. The instructors are always willing to field questions and give individual attention to anyone who requests it. It's my second time through, and I just want to say THANKS!

As a computer coach I try to make it to as many classes as I can - there is always something new to learn ( or refresh the memory at my age). My main goal was to learn how to play music through more than one slide so I'm a happy student. Thanks!

As always, I increase or reinforce my understanding of the classroom applications presented in Monday Modules. I use PowerPoints in all my classes, and I'm keep trying to increase my efficiency and expanding my techniques. I find that it is a challenge to keep up with the changes, and that's why I try to attend as many sessions as possible.
