This is the free, open source answer to webex... setup webinars and conferences by sharing your video feed and desktop over the web.
www.dimdim.com
Description:
Web conferencing site that allows you to set up webinars providing video from your webcam and screenshare your desktop. There is a whiteboard feature and chat services. You can even record your session for later playback.
Ideas for use:
Use for collaborating between classrooms across the district or around the world. Setup a webcam and run your power point, browse the web, share your SmartBoard and everyone on the remote side will see what you are doing onscreen. Use the chat feature like a parking lot for questions and issues. Turn the presenter console over to remote sites to allow them to present. And then post your recorded link on your web page so students can return to it later... whether they were in your classroom or not!
Considerations:
The video will use some bandwidth, so if you are in LPS, you'll be OK... but elsewhere, be sure to talk to your IT department first.
