Information and Technology Services

Welcome to Littleton Public Schools and thank you for visiting.  Our district has set very high goals for learning which the ITS staff members are fully committed to supporting.  By 2011-2012, 90% of students will be on or above grade level in reading, writing, math and science.  Each school is engaged in their own School Improvement Planning process addressing goals that they believe will have the greatest impact on student achievement.  Our purpose is to support those efforts with the use of technology.

Our Vision: LPS will support the necessary technology for world-class student learning and professional practice.

Our Mission: To define the 21st Century Learning Space, to assure Universal Access to that space, for all learners to master new frontiers in communications, information and literacy.

In 2007-2008, our district will make major strides toward achieving this mission.  By the opening of school this August, all schools will be fully wireless.  We will explore several approaches to fund Universal Access to 21st Century learning environments for all students using varied approaches based on level and application.  We will complete our work to define just what makes a 21st Century Learning Space and just what skills every learner should master in such an environment.  We will see e-learning expanded to serve ever wider groups of learners.  Our support services for cyber security and digital citizenship will be expanded.  Watch for online professional development, pod-casts, our ever-growing blogging community.

I am excited about this school year and I count myself very lucky to be surrounded by top educators, outstanding leaders and a supportive community.  This environment is one where all of us can meet the district mission:

To educate all students for the future by challenging every individual to
continuously learn, achieve, and act with purpose and compassion.

How can you get involved?  How can you stay informed?  Visit our LPS blogging site where you can find updates and participation opportunities.  Keep an eye on the ETAC site for information and even answer the call for new members in the spring.  Visit the LPS Foundation to help support efforts across the district.  You make a difference in Littleton.
