Nearly 75% give Littleton Public Schools an "A" or "B"
Littleton Public Schools contracted with Public Opinion Strategies in March 2006 to survey a representative sampling of registered voters in the LPS attendance area regarding a variety of issues.
Key findings:
- Local residents give LPS very strong ratings. Nearly 75% of those surveyed grade LPS with an "A" or "B".
- About two-thirds view their schools as superior to other schools in the state.
- LPS rates strongest in the areas of greatest importance to residents:
- Teaching students the basic subjects like reading, writing, and math
- Providing the education that today's students will need for tomorrow's jobs and careers
- Maintaining a safe environment
- In addition, 80% are confident in the job the district is doing spending taxpayer money wisely.
- The vast majority of both parents and those without children attending LPS continue to say LPS communicates well.
- Across multiple questions, LPS taxpayers applaud:
- teacher quality
- choices/options
- academic standards
- accountability for taxpayer money
- safe learning environment
- access to technology
What they said:
"I think that they have unusually highly dedicated professionals working in the schools, and I think they are highly qualified..."
I like the wide range of help. They have gifted help. They do a great job at preparing the kids for college. They really keep track of what they need to do. Nobody falls through the cracks. They attract excellent teachers by running a quality program."
What I particularly like the most is a variety of study. They offer everything. Very advanced science and language courses. A variety of different languages taught. Overall, it is an exceptional school district."
