Thanks to ISTE for including my comment on whether students should use their real names on the web in the June/July edition of Learning and Leading with Technology magazine.  Cyber-safety is a big issue in our school district and we've spent a lot of time in this very discussion.  Since 2007, we've had an open wireless network fully accessible in every school that allows for personal technology... or BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology).  This issue has been important as the counter-balance to the energy and excitement for use of technology in our schools.  I am quite proud of our teachers and students for their progress with 21st Century skills.  If you'd like to learn more about our program, you can check out some links below:

Writing with Laptops Year...

The 2010-11 school year is coming to an end in Littleton Public Schools and it has been an exciting year for technology.  We have more than 5,000 netbooks (Eee PCs) out in the schools, over 11,000 accounts in Google Docs and every school has wifi services.  With all this technology, we are seeing increased test scores and high-tech learning.

We also want to know what kids think of their technology at school.  So let's hear from the students:

• What was the best part of having technology at school?
• How can technology be better at school?

Remember to be respectful in sharing your opinions here.  Don't use names of students or teachers, but do write about your ideas in general. We want to hear about netbooks, graphing calculators, SmartBoards, clickers, document cameras, robots, engineering projects, computer software, video streaming... any kind of technology you want to share about.
