Google Groups for Class Discussions

How can I have a discussion with my entire class where there is time for everyone in the class to give their opinion, where everyone in the class can see the responses from each class member and students can reply to each other challenging each other’s thoughts and comparing the similarities and difference of their responses? Google Groups can do this. It allows for threaded discussions. Learn how to create, share and use Google Group with your students/staff.
Google Sites as ePortfolios ( Middle School )

Learn about the idea of having students create electronic portfolios (eportfolios) of their work and how that can follow them throughout their career in Littleton Public Schools. We will focus on using Google sites to create a template that you can share with your students to get them started.
Classroom Wikis

Learn how to develop and create a classroom wiki for you, your students and your parents. Tips on organization, adding pictures, links and documents, embedding widgets and gadgets will be given. We will look at examples of how other LPS teachers are utilizing this tool in their classrooms.
Google Maps - Google Lit Trips - So What exactly are Google Lit Trips?

Google Lit Trips can designate the journeys of characters from famous literature, designate battles of a war or mark locations of scientific value. At each location there are placemarks with pop-up windows containing a variety of resources including media (pictures), thought provoking discussion starters (text), and links to additional information (hyperlinks). The focus is on students creating engaging and relevant experiences. The new content standards focus heavily on students involved in analyzing, synthesizing and being part of creating their own knowledge. Google Lit Trips using Google Maps is a nice step in this direction.

Parents: How to use Google Docs

This will be a introduction to Google Docs and how students in LPS are currently using this tool. We will go over how to login, the basics of google docs and address questions from parents. Please bring your Infinite Campus login information so you are able to access your students google account information.

EasyBib is an automatic bibliography composer and is also a part of your Google Apps account.. When you have sources you need to cite for a research paper, EasyBib can help collect, format and organize these sources. Learn how to access and use this tool.
Collecting Information/Data from students, parents, colleagues using FORMS

Learn how to use tools such as Google forms to collect and analyze information from students and teachers. We will look at creating and distributing forms as well as using a tool called Flubaroo to automatically grade certain form submissions. We will also take a look at a tool called PollEverywhere that can use cell phones and texting to gather data.

If you have been looking to better showcase student work on your website or link to websites that allow students to explore art online. This is the class for you. We will explore Picasa, Blogs, Websites and ways to collaborate with art online.
