“Highly Qualified” Teachers

The federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law stipulates that all teachers in the “core academic” subjects be “highly qualified” as defined in the legislation. All (100%) LPS teachers meet the requirements and all (100%) classes in the core academic subjects are taught by “highly qualified” teachers. The district has a very experienced teaching staff as well, with only about 7% holding an initial teaching license.
