LPS now offers an online learning program that brings together the best of cyber-space with your home-space. Whether educating at home is by choice or by necessity for you, LPS@home offers you a quality online program. We use the PLATO Learning System
, one of the longest running series available. Your student gets access to the academic version of the United Streaming video
library, online library databases and support from certified teachers and technologists. And LPS@home can help you access on-site activities
in schools across the district including dance, art, science club, technology and many others. Your student will have access to NWEA’s standardized assessments
and the Colorado Student Assessment Program to help you know your student is making great progress. You will receive an official transcript. Due to our online-onsite approach, you can utilize our dedicated learning spaces to access classroom materials and get personal teacher attention. All at no charge to you.
What follows is a testimonial from a homeschooling parent written to an LPS@home Teacher-Liaison:
Dear Littleton Public Schools:
Thank you so much for continuing the LPS@home program. I am thrilled to be able to homeschool my son again with the support of an entire district behind me.
My son was hesitant with the changes that came with the program's second year. However, he easily transitioned to the new school facility and teacher coordinator, Mrs. Sandoval.
Let me say how much we both value Mrs. Sandoval's help and care. She has great insight into elementary and middle school student requirements. Every time I've looked for support to help teach my son, whether in writing, science or another subject, Mrs. Sandoval has had advice and resources to help. She has also sought out areas of interest she knows my son will enjoy. For instance, she invited him, a 3rd-grader, to participate in a 5th-grade science lab, because she wanted to help foster his keen appreciation for the sciences and knew he was able to keep up with the class. He loved the experience! Especially the dissection lab. Who knew?
My son simply likes her. She is kind and friendly and cares about his learning experience.
She has also been a key proponent to helping my son integrate with the other students of LPS@home and with the students at Hopkins with whom he does Specials. That said, I also really appreciate the 3rd-grade teacher at Hopkins who has completely welcomed my son to join his classroom for all kinds of activities, not just specials. My son has participated with this class in field trips, field day, CSAP preparation, birthday/holiday celebrations, and online homework assignments (optional for my son). I'm told the kids in the class are always excited when my son joins them.
My son likes LPS@home, because he gets to go on lots of field trips. He also likes the individual attention I provide. He also likes the variety of the day. To help him keep from getting bored, I give him choices from which to select. Does he want to do math or reading next? I'm able to make sure his palette is varied but also will fulfill his core requirements.
