In accordance with the law, in the event a vacancy occurs, the Board of Education at its next regular meeting shall adopt a resolution declaring a vacancy. The remaining directors of the Board of Education are required to fill this vacancy by making an appointment within sixty (60) days after the vacancy occurs. If the Board of Education does not make the appointment within the sixty-day period, the president must make the appointment immediately. The law further provides that (a) the appointment must be properly recorded in the minutes of the meeting, (b) a certificate of appointment must be directed to the appointee, and (c) a duplicate of such certificate of appointment must be submitted to the Colorado State Department of Education.
When a director vacancy occurs, nothing in these bylaws shall be construed to mean that the person appointed to fill that vacancy shall also be entitled to serve as such officer of the Board of Education. When the director vacancy has been filled, the Board of Education at its next regular meeting shall elect a director to fill the office(s) left vacant.
