The officers shall be a president, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, and an assistant secretary.
President (Election)
The president shall be elected by a majority vote of the Board of Education and shall hold office for a term of two years, and until a successor shall have been elected. The president shall be elected by secret ballot.
Duties of President
The president of the Board of Education shall perform all duties prescribed by law, including the following: (a) preside at all meetings of the Board of Education, (b) sign contracts and such other written documents in behalf of the District as authorized by the Board of Education and/or by law.
Vice President (Election)
The vice president shall be elected by a majority vote of the Board of Education and shall hold office for a term of two years, and until a successor shall have been elected. The vice president shall be elected by secret ballot.
Duties of the Vice President
In the absence or inability of the president, the vice president shall perform all the powers and duties of the president.
Secretary
The secretary shall be elected by a majority vote of the Board of Education or appointed for a two-year term.
Duties of the Secretary
The secretary shall cause proper keeping of records of all meetings and posting of legal notices. He/she shall provide for the preparation and shall sign all legal documents. He/she shall perform the duties of acting chairperson in the absence of the president and vice president and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by law or the Board of Education. He/she shall furnish a surety bond in excess of the minimum amount prescribed by law.
Treasurer
The treasurer shall be elected by the Board of Education or appointed for a two-year term.
Duties of the Treasurer
The treasurer shall receive, hold in custody, and expend all funds as directed by the Board of Education. He/she shall furnish a surety bond in excess of the minimum amount prescribed by law.
Assistant Secretary
The assistant secretary shall be elected by the Board of Education or appointed for a two-year term.
Duties of the Assistant Secretary
In the absence or inability of the secretary, the assistant secretary shall cause proper keeping of records of all meetings and posting of legal notices. He/she shall provide for the preparation and shall sign all legal documents. He/she shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by law or the Board of Education. He/she shall furnish a surety bond in excess of the minimum amount prescribed by law.
In the absence or inability of the treasurer, the assistant secretary shall receive, hold in custody, and expend all funds as directed by the Board of Education. He/she shall furnish a surety bond in excess of the minimum amount prescribed by law.
Vacancy of an Officer
If an officer of the Board of Education should resign from office but not from the Board of Education before the term of office has expired, the Board of Education at its next regular meeting following the acceptance of the resignation shall elect a successor to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.
