Policy Code BF Policy Name Board Policy Development Adoption July 2, 1984 Revised |
It is the intent of the Board of Education to develop policies and put them in writing so that they may serve as guidelines for its own operations and for the successful and efficient functioning of the public schools.
The Board of Education considers policy development one of its chief responsibilities. Proposals regarding policies may originate with a member of the Board of Education, the Superintendent, a staff member, a parent, student, consultant, civic group, or any resident of the District. A careful and orderly process shall be used in examining such proposals prior to action upon them by the Board of Education. The Board of Education shall take action after hearing the recommendations of the Superintendent and the viewpoints of persons and groups affected by the policy.
The policies of the Board of Education are framed and meant to be interpreted in terms of state laws and regulations and other regulatory agencies within our state and federal levels of government.
Changes in needs, conditions, purposes, and objectives will require revisions, deletions, and additions to the policies of the present and future boards. The Board of Education will welcome suggestions for ongoing policy development.
