Policy Code    CI

Policy Name    Temporary Administrative

                                 Arrangements

Adoption            July 2, 1984

Revised

The Superintendent is authorized to appoint an acting superintendent to serve for specified periods of time during his/her temporary absence from duty. A temporary absence is defined as any period of time in excess of two working days.

When so appointed, the acting superintendent will act on those areas which require a decision from the office of the Superintendent in his/her absence. The acting superintendent will not be expected to deal with matters requiring long-term planning or preparation unless specifically so assigned by the Superintendent.

The acting superintendent will take special care to keep the President of the Board of Education informed as to any departure from normal routine.

In the event of a vacancy in the Office of Superintendent of Schools, or in the event of incapacitation of the Superintendent, the responsibility for the appointment of an acting superintendent rests with the Board of Education.

It is further the policy of the Board of Education that administration will make appropriate arrangements for all administrative positions as deemed necessary for temporary absences.
