Recognizing that the pursuit of excellence in education requires a consideration of increasing expenditure of funds and continued experimentation toward innovation, the Board of Education will use the following criteria for participation in Federal Aid to Education programs:

On the basis that the program for which the funds are available will be of benefit to the students of the District.

To carry on studies or experimental programs in areas as approved by the Board of Education.

Federal funds must be available to conduct adequate evaluation of the study as a means of determining whether or not such experimental programs should become part of the regular District program. The District may choose to conduct an independent evaluation in addition to the evaluation based upon federal guidelines.

If the program enhances the District’s goals and objectives.

There is a clear statement in advance of costs and obligations to which the District is giving consent as conditions for receiving grants.

There is no obligation to continue the activity unless explicitly so stated by the Board of Education.
