Policy Name    Construction Project Insurance

Contractor/Subcontractor Insurance Requirements

Contractors/Subcontractors shall obtain and maintain during the performance of their work for the District, the following minimum insurance coverages:

       Workers’ Compensation, including employer liability coverage as required by statute.

       Commercial general liability with minimum limits of $500,000 per occurrence, including the following coverages: contractual liability, personal injury, premises, products/completed operations, broad form property damage, independent contractors, and explosion, collapse, and underground hazards.

       Commercial automobile liability with minimum limits of $500,000 combined single limits for bodily injury and property damage insuring all vehicles used in connection with the work.

The above limits of coverage are minimum amounts and may be adjusted upward depending on the risk and exposure to the District. The contractor/subcontractor shall require its lower‑tiered contractors to provide like coverages.

 

Certificates of Insurance

Contractors/subcontractors shall provide the District with certificates of insurance evidencing the above policies prior to commencement of services. The District will be named as additional insured, as their interest may appear on all commercial, general, and auto liability insurance policies. All certificates shall state the insurance carried shall give the District 30 days notice of cancellation and/or material change of the policies.

 

Compliance With Law/Safety Program

Contractors/subcontractors shall warrant that they will comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations having jurisdiction over the services, and contractors/subcontractors are responsible for their own safety programs in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Act.

 

Bonds

Contractors/subcontractors will provide acceptable bonds as required in accordance with state statute.

 

Builders Risk Insurance

The District shall obtain builders “all risk” insurance for construction projects on an individual project basis. The coverage will be purchased on a completed value basis and insure the District, its contractors, subcontractors, and lower-tiered contractors as their interest may appear.
