In its on-going effort to meet the needs of students, the Board may operate summer sessions for K–12 students under the supervision of the appropriate administrator. Summer school programs shall align with the District mission, priorities and outcomes, and shall reflect the District values. Curriculum and materials used in the summer session shall be consistent with those used during the regular school year.

Tuition shall be charged at a rate which will ensure that the program is self-supporting. Transportation may be offered at student expense.

Administrator(s) of the summer session shall be appointed by the assistant superintendent of learning services.

Teachers and other staff for summer sessions shall be recruited from the District staff insofar as possible. The salary for summer staff shall be set by the appropriate associate superintendent in collaboration with the assistant superintendent of human resources.

Except as a condition of promotion, no student shall be required to enroll in the summer program. However, students who enroll shall be required to attend regularly or be dropped from the summer roll without a refund of fees. Nonresident students may attend Littleton Public Schools’ summer programs on a space-available basis.

A summary of all summer programs shall be provided to the Board of Education annually.
