Policy Code IL-R Policy Name Evaluation of Instructional Programs January 5, 1993

The Board believes that professional accountability for the instructional efforts of the schools shall be evaluated systematically.
Prerequisites for such an evaluation system shall be:
Development of measurable educational goals and instructional outcomes
Selection of appropriate educational programs and instructional materials
Purposes of evaluation shall be to:
Indicate instructional strengths and weaknesses.
Provide information needed for advance planning.
Provide data for public information.
Show the relationship between achievement and the school system’s stated outcomes.
Check on the suitability of the instructional program in terms of community requirements.
The Board shall rely on the professional staff to provide continuous evaluation of the educational program and instructional processes. The Board may participate with the professional staff in such evaluation if the nature and scope of the evaluative process warrants.
