The District shall furnish transportation to all elementary school students who live beyond one mile from their assigned school and to middle school and high school students who live beyond one and one-half miles from their assigned school.
Late bus service shall be provided for middle school students who participate in scheduled after-school activities and who reside one and one-half miles or more from their assigned school.
Students living less than the minimum distance from school may be transported if they must walk to school in or through a designated special area. “Special areas” are defined as those areas in which vehicular traffic is too excessive for students to walk. Special areas may be established upon the written recommendation of the director of transportation and with the written approval of the assistant superintendent of business services/chief financial officer and the Superintendent.
Transportation arrangements also may be provided for students with special needs as required by state and/or federal law.
