Accounting

The enterprise fund basis of accounting will be used for the food services fund as required by the Colorado State Board of Education.

 

Audit

The food services fund will be audited annually by an independent certified public accountant or registered accountant. The audit shall comply with federal requirements.

 

Income

The food services program shall be operated on a nonprofit basis. Any income derived from the operation of the program shall be used to support the food services program and shall not be used for any other purpose.

 

Pricing

The federally reimbursable lunch will be priced as a unit. The price of the lunch shall be approved by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the director of food services, the assistant superintendent of business services/chief financial officer, and the Superintendent, with the prior approval of the Colorado Department of Education Child Nutrition Unit.

 

Record Retention

All accounts and records of the food services program shall be retained for a period of three years after the end of the fiscal year to which they pertain.
