It is the intent of the Board of Education to adhere to the provisions of copyright laws in all areas, e.g., print, computer software, audiovisual materials, music, etc. Though there continues to be controversy regarding interpretation of copyright laws, the Board of Education’s intention is to make known that all District employees shall be expected to adhere to the provisions of law, rules, and regulations concerning the use of copyrighted materials. Legal or insurance protection of the District shall not be extended to employees who violate copyright laws.

There shall be made available at the District level, as well as at the respective building levels, information on copyright infringement and “fair use” guidelines for copyrighted materials.
