The Board of Education recognizes the need and responsibility to preserve the District’s resources. The Board of Education shall procure through self-insurance, pools, and/or insurance companies the following policies of insurance:
Direct physical damage property insurance on all “all-risk” basis for replacement of buildings, structures, equipment, and personal property owned by the District or in which the District is responsible for and holds an insurable interest.
Commercial general liability insurance covering liability for bodily injury and property damage insuring the District, the Board of Education, employees, and school-sponsored organizations, while acting within the scope of their employment for the District.
Commercial automobile insurance covering liability for bodily injury and property damage on all owned, nonowned, hired, borrowed, and leased vehicles and comprehensive/collision, personal injury protection (PIP), and automobile medical pay on all owned vehicles.
School leaders errors and omissions insurance covering acts of the District, the Board of Education, employees, and volunteers, while acting within the scope and course of their employment.
Workers’ Compensation as required by statute.
Commercial crime insurance covering blanket employee dishonesty.
Other insurance as deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
The chief financial officer and his/her designee shall initiate payment for property, public liability, errors and omissions, Workers’ Compensation, crime, and other coverages. Damage or loss to District property or liability which are not covered by insurance or fall within a deductible amount shall be funded through the insurance reserve fund.
