Policy Name    General Human Resources Policies

Adoption            July 2, 1984

Revised              January 9, 2003

Collection Agency

The District does not desire to act as a collection agency for individual and personal debts of its employees. The District considers such obligations as personal in nature and except where court judgments for garnishments are concerned, no effort shall be made by the Human Resources Department to effect such collection of debts. If garnishments of salary become a consistent problem, the District may determine secretarial and/or clerical costs and subtract such sums from the employee’s salary.

Use of School Equipment

The use of District equipment and materials for personal use is forbidden.

Personal Services

Services by a District employee for the personal benefit of any individual during normal work hours are prohibited.

Outside Selling/Soliciting

Employees engaged in selling (books, materials, products, insurance, etc.) outside of school time, in addition to their regular employment in the District, shall be prohibited from selling to parents or to students who are members of their classes unless prior approval has been obtained from the assistant superintendent of human resources. In no instance shall an employee engaged in selling services or products refer to his/her employment in the District.
