Policy Code GDBE Policy Name Classified Staff Vacations and Holidays Adoption July 2, 1984 Revised June 18, 1991 |
Vacations
Classified administrators, administrative support group, and technical support group personnel shall earn 1–2/3 days of vacation per month.
Vacations for all other full-time twelve-month employees will be earned at the rate of 5/6 day per month during the first five years of employment in the position. Upon completion of five (5) years employment, the employee will earn 1–1/4 days of vacation per month, and after ten (10) years employment, the employee will earn 1–2/3 days of vacation per month.
All vacations will be scheduled and approved by the administrator in charge.
Vacation days earned during a work year (based on the individual employee’s date of employment) must be used during that work year or the subsequent twelve months. Per this policy, an employee cannot accumulate more than the number of vacation days accrued over a 24-month period.
Upon termination of employment, payment will be made for current unused vacation accrued per this policy. Unused vacation will be reimbursed at the employee’s per diem rate.
Holidays
Classified staff employed on a full twelve-month basis will receive eleven and one-half paid holidays per year. Such holidays shall be determined by the Superintendent. Less than twelve-month employees shall receive five paid holidays per year. Enterprise fund programs shall have the option of paying less than twelve-month employees for designated holidays. Such determination shall be made by the Superintendent or designee.
The last two sentences in this policy were added October 2002 after being presented to the BOE as nonsubstantive language changes and okayed by the BOE without the formal BOE process.
