The people of the District will be encouraged to express their ideas, concerns, and judgments about the schools through such means as:
Written suggestions or proposals.
Presentations at hearings.
Responses to surveys made through interviews, written instruments, or other means.
Comments at meetings of the Board.
Service on citizens’ advisory committees.
Conversations with Board members.
All advice provided by individual citizens and/or committees will be given careful consideration although the Board is not bound or obligated by such advice. In the evaluation of such considerations, the first concern will be for the educational program as it affects students.
The Board will receive written citizen advisory committee reports and will respond to suggestions or recommendations.
The Superintendent will appoint a liaison staff member to serve as an ex-officio member of each standing advisory committee.
The standing committees will function under established bylaws approved by the Board. Short-term committees will function under charges as established by the Board.
The Board will provide committees with well-defined areas of suggested study and involvement.
Officers or official representatives of organized District employee groups will not be selected to serve as voting members of citizen advisory committees.
Citizen advisory committees will keep the Board informed of all meetings and actions.
All official public releases from citizen advisory organizations will be released through the communication specialist.
