Policy Code    KCB

Policy Name    Review of Decisions at Request

                                 of Community Members

Adoption            October 5, 1993

Revised              April 26, 2007

The Board of Education understands that occasionally some members of the public may not agree with some decisions made by employees of Littleton Public Schools. It is the Board of Education’s desire to provide a reasonable system of review which neither minimizes the importance of such a process nor overburdens the administration and community with multiple levels of review and extensive time. In that spirit of balance and reasonability, the process described in KCB-R shall be implemented when reviewing decisions made by District personnel, unless a specific review process applies, (e.g., academic and athletic suspensions and expulsions, individual boundary exceptions, instructional materials, personnel) in which case the specific review process shall be the exclusive means of Board of Education involvement. The Board of Education has the discretion to decide whether it will hear a particular request and whether the requests will be heard in public or executive session except where otherwise provided by law. Administration will define the process through regulations to be followed prior to a Board of Education hearing.
