Parent-teacher associations are recognized as most significant in contributing to continuous school and community understanding.

It is a general goal of the District to foster relationships with parents which encourage the home and school to work together toward establishing and achieving common educational goals for students. To this end the District will:

Consult with and encourage parents to share in school planning, setting objectives, and evaluating programs.

Help parents understand the education process and their role in promoting it.

Provide for parent understanding of school operations.

Provide opportunities for parents to be informed of their student’s development and the criteria for its measurement.

Help parents improve in their role as parents.

To accomplish the above and to enhance communications between parents and school officials, the Board encourages the maintenance of formal parent organizations at each school building.

Liability Insurance

The District will provide liability insurance for approved parent organizations.

Relationship With the Principal

The principal shall automatically be appointed to the office of second vice president of the appropriate parent/teacher organization and shall serve as a member of the nominating committee.

The distribution of parent/teacher organization information shall be the responsibility of the principal at each school providing that the distribution of such materials is in conformity with districtwide policies of the Board.
