Arapahoe’s Jazz I Receives The 2005 National Downbeat
Music Magazine’s Award for the Most Outstanding U.S. High School Big Jazz Band
Centennial, Colorado—Arapahoe High School’s Jazz I has received The
National Downbeat Music Magazine’s Most Outstanding Big Band Jazz Award for
2005. This is a very prestigious award given to the most superior high school
jazz ensemble across the United
States. Arapahoe was the only Colorado non-magnet high
school recognized with a 2005 Downbeat award. The band’s picture was also
featured in the June Downbeat National Music Magazine. Members of Arapahoe Jazz
I include: Ethan Turner and Tricia Cannava, Alto Sax; Ben Link, Amy Rausch, and
Steve Berres, Tenor Sax; Alex Hill, Baritone Sax; Elliott Hoefflin,
Peter Mitchell, Bobby Cassara, Josh Vella and Colton Crandell, Trumpet; Jeff Henton,
Alex Schiff, Dan Wood, Josh McKoy and Grant Weaver,
Trombone; Jessica Swift, Piano; Ryan Foley, Bass; Tim Clarkson and Sean Case,
Percussion.
The Arapahoe High School Jazz staff includes: Dr. Ed
