AHS Dixie Dawgs to Perform at WWW Fireworks Concert

 

Centennial, ColoradoFor the second year in a row, the Arapahoe High School Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs have been selected to perform at the Western Welcome Week Fireworks Concert on August 12th. The free concert will take place at Sterne Park in Littleton at approximately 8:00 p.m.

 

Members of the Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs include: Amy Rausch (clarinet), Steve Berres (tenor sax), Bobby Cassara, (trumpet), Jeff Henton (trombone), Todd Shaw (banjo), Wes Leffingwell (piano), Ryan Roley (bass), and Sean Case (drums).

 

The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs are sponsored by the Denver Jazz Club and directed by Dr. Ed Cannava, Arapahoe’s Director of Bands. UCD Professor and Queen City Jazz Band bass player, Bill Clark, clinics the band from time to time. The Dixie Dawgs won a prestigious 2003 Downbeat Outstanding Jazz Combo Performance Award. All members of the combo are also a part of Arapahoe’s top jazz ensemble, Jazz I. That group recently won the 2005 Downbeat Best U.S. High School Big Jazz Band Award.
