July 16, 2004 Contact: Dr. Ed Cannava Arapahoe High School 303-347-6031 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Arapahoe Band Boosters Win CAPE AwardLittleton, Colorado—The Arapahoe Band Boosters have won the 2004 Colorado Association of Partners in Education Volunteer of the Year Award in Congressional District Six. Betty Timmer, CAPE Coordinator, stated that this volunteer effort at Arapahoe High School exemplifies the type of partnership CAPE seeks to foster and they are very grateful for the nomination of the Arapahoe Band Boosters by Band Director, Dr. Ed Cannava. CAPE is a statewide coalition of volunteer directors whose mission is to develop and maintain an alliance of individual, business and group partnership programs, which encourage meaningful involvement in public education. The Arapahoe Band Boosters are made up of approximately 350 parents. They raise approximately 75% of the total budget for the Arapahoe Band Program. The parents do everything and anything they can to contribute to the success of the Arapahoe Band. Arapahoe’s award will be presented to Ms. Joanne Swift, ABB President, at the 26th Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon. This will be held at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver on Friday, November 5. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will be the keynote speaker. |
