Arapahoe Band Selected to Perform in the 2006-07 American Celebrations of Music in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic

 

Centennial, Colorado—The Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band has been selected to represent Colorado in the 2006-07 American Celebrations of Music in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Thousands of Europeans are expected to view the performances of the Arapahoe Band in Salzburg, Vienna, Modling, and Prague.

 

The Arapahoe Warrior Band has been invited to perform in an invitational parade at Vienna’s Silvesterpfad New Year’s Eve celebration. In the afternoon, the Marching Band will parade from Hero Square to Stephansplatz, at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. They will then proceed on to City Hall where the Warrior Band will put on a New Year’s Eve concert. This will be a special celebration for the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birthday.

 

The 10-day trip will take place from December 27, 2006 through January 5, 2007. Additional trip activities will include: a panoramic sightseeing tour of Munich, a viewing of the Glockenspiel at Munich’s Marienplatz, a welcome dinner at St. Peter’s Abbey (an evening of Mozart music performed by costumed performers), a tour of Salzburg, a visit to Mondsee (see the Sound of Music church and the Monastery at the Melk), a viewing of Durnstein (where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned), a tour of the State Opera House at Vienna, an evening at Vienna’s Porgy & Bess Jazz Club, a sightseeing tour of Vienna, a visit to Mozart’s “Figaro House”, a dinner cruise on the Danube River to view Vienna’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, a visit to Central Cemetery (gravesites of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert and other historical composers), a viewing of the Vienna Woods, a Heuriger Dinner in Grinzing, a panoramic tour of Prague, a tour of the Tenezin (former Nazi concentration camp for children), a visit to the Museum of Medieval Justice (includes instruments of torture), a farewell dinner in Rothenburg, and a tour with the Rothenburg Night Watchman.
