Arapahoe Music Program Selected as a Grammy Signature School Finalist

 

Littleton, Colorado- The Arapahoe High School Music Program has been selected by the Grammy Foundation as a 2004 Grammy Signature School Finalist. This year’s Grammy Signature school program is sponsored by 7UP. Only 100 high schools from across the United States were selected for this honor.

 

Schools submitted applications that demonstrated the breadth of their music program. Of the 100 finalists, forty will be named Grammy Signature schools, six will become Gold recipients, and one will be name the National Grammy Signature School. Each Grammy Signature School will receive an award and a monetary grant ranging from $1000 to $7000.

 

For the finals phase of the program, Arapahoe will be sending an audio recording to the Grammy Foundation, including selections from Concert Choir, Choralettes, Arapahoe Singers, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I and The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs. Arapahoe also sent in sample concert programs over the last year, along with a video of the State Championship performance of the Warrior Marching Band.

 

Ms. Kelly Parmenter is the Performing Arts Chair, Vocal Music Director and Orchestra Director at Arapahoe High School. Dr. Ed Cannava directs the bands, jazz program and small ensembles at Arapahoe.
