Arapahoe Warrior Marching Band Places First in 5A
Centennial, Colorado—The
Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Ed Cannava, placed first at the October 8, 2005 Douglas County Marching
Invitational. They were named the First
Place 5A Band and Second Place Overall Band out of
23 competing bands. Arapahoe also placed first in every music average, visual
average, and general effect total caption. The Arapahoe Color Guard placed
first, and the percussion section placed 2nd in 5A competition
Arapahoe’s 2005 field show is “Arapa-HOE-DOWN!” featuring
“Big Country,” “Magnificent Seven,” “Buffalo
Girls,” “Shenandoah,” “Silverado,” and “The William Tell Overture.” Wind
arrangements are by Scott Hickey; Percussion score by Doug Rosener; Visual
Design is by Craig Harms and Kenny
Bailey; Prop Design and Construction by Michael
Steinberg and David Dunda; Artwork by Amy Rausch and Steve
Gilmour; and Costuming by Susan James.
The Arapahoe Band is led by drum majors Emmanuel Verges and
Katherine Cameron. The Warrior Band’s section leaders include: Lyndsey Sotwick,
Flute; Amy Rausch, Clarinet; Steve Berres, Saxophone; Bobby Cassara, Trumpet;
Katie Dwyer, Mellophone; Will Gamache, Low Brass; Sean Case, Battery
Percussion; Amy Bickel, Pit Percussion; and Taryn Bote, Color Guard.
The Warrior Band’s squad leaders include: Laura Liljegren,
Clarinet; Jill Gonder, Saxophone; Peter Mitchell, Trumpet; Dan Wood, Low Brass;
and Katie Cassara, Pit Percussion.
The 2005-06 Arapahoe Marching Band Staff includes: Fred
Bowlus, Matt Clarkson, and Jenny Breth,, Percussion; Kenny
Bailey, Dee Hanes, and Dana Esterak, Color Guard; Shawn Funk, Student Teacher;
Bruce Fox and Mark Talley, Marching; Debbie Young, Flute; Heather Davis,
