July 16, 2004 Contact: Dr. Ed Cannava Arapahoe High School 303-347-6031 FOR RELEASE THE WEEK OF AUGUST 2 AHS Dixie Dawgs to Perform at WWW Fireworks ConcertLittleton, Colorado—The Arapahoe High School Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs have been selected to perform at the Western Welcome Week Fireworks Concert on August 13th. The free concert will take place at Sterne Park in Littleton at approximately 8:00 p.m. This year’s Western Welcome Week focuses on youth. Members of the Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs include: Tricia Cannava (clarinet), Ben Link (tenor sax), Bobby Cassara, (trumpet), Jeff Henton (trombone), Tim Clarkson (banjo), Jessica Swift (piano), Matt Rasband (bass), and Sean Case (drums). The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs are sponsored by the Denver Jazz Club and directed by Dr. Ed Cannava, Arapahoe’s Director of Bands. UCD Professor and Queen City Jazz Band bass player, Bill Clark, clinics the band from time to time. The Dixie Dawgs won a prestigious 2003 Downbeat Outstanding Jazz Combo Performance Award.
