Ragtime Pianist and Composer Scott Kirby in Residence at Arapahoe High School

Littleton, Colorado-Scott Kirby, nationally recognized pianist, composer and educator, will be in residence at Arapahoe High School on Friday, April 9th. Mr. Kirby is available through an anonymous private donation. Scott Kirby specializes in jazz, blues, Creole music, terra verde, tango and traditional music.

In New Orleans, Mr. Kirby recorded the complete rags of Scott Joplin and made his debut at ragtime and jazz festivals in the U.S., Norway, Hungary, France and Belgium. Kirby has recorded twenty-one CD's covering styles such as ragtime, Brazilian Tango, French Musette, blues, jazz, Creole music, and original compositions. Musical director of the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival since 1998, and one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Institute, Kirby continues to promote American classics through education, performance and composition.

The public is invited to attend Scott Kirby's presentations on Friday, April 9 from 9:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. The day will proceed as follows:

9:30-10:30 a.m. Concert Band Performance/Discussion with Scott Kirby (Emphasis on Scott Joplin).
11:15-12:10 p.m. Symphonic Band Performance/Discussion with Scott Kirby (Emphasis on Scott
Joplin).
1:15-2:15 p.m. Wind Ensemble Performance/Discussion with Scott Kirby (Emphasis on Scott
Joplin).
2:20-3:30 p.m Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs Rehearsal/Clinic with Scott Kirby; Master Piano class to follow Dixie Clinic.
