Optional Enrollment Timelines and Process

Students who do not reside within a school's attendance area may apply for open enrolled status. Open enrollment is a process by which both in-district residents and out-of-district families may apply to attend a school other than their home school. Forms to request open enrollment are available beginning October 1 each year for the next school year and should be returned to the requested school on or before January 31. Applications are considered on a first come basis with in-district residents receiving priority over non-district residents during the period from October through January. Families are notified by the high schools of their status in mid-February. Forms submitted after the January 31 deadline are considered on a first come basis, but notification of status could be delayed as late as the beginning of the requested school year. Open enrollment forms are available at every school, the district office, and on the district web-site. Please contact the requested high school for information regarding additional documentation required for open enrollment consideration.

Gary Hein (Euclid), Kathleen Ambron (Goddard), James O’Tremba (Newton), and Steve Wolf (Powell) will come together for one evening to introduce the middle school concept and help parents understand this bridge to high school.  We are proud of our wonderful middle school program and look forward to sharing our thoughts about middle school with you.  We welcome your questions and hope you will join us for a relaxed and interactive evening.

General Information

Each of our three high schools hosts transition activities for in-coming ninth grade students. The purpose of the activities is to inform students and parents of pertinent information regarding the high school and the registration process for in-coming ninth grade students, register the student for appropriate courses, and  ease the transition from eighth to ninth grade. Please click on the high school link for activities pertaining to each high school as the timelines and activities vary by school. Most transition activities occur between the first of February and the end of April.
