A child may enter kindergarten if he/she is five years old on or before October 1 of the year of enrollment. A student may enroll in the first grade if he/she is six years old on or before October 1 of the year of enrollment. Younger students shall be accepted if transferring from an accredited state or private kindergarten or first grade. Accreditation will be recognized from state and/or national organizations.
Early access to kindergarten or first grade will be available to those students who apply and who meet the gifted and talented identification criteria as outlined in Exceptional Children’s Education Act (ECEA), section 2220-R-12.08, if the school district has filed for this provision in their Gifted and Talented Administrative Unit Program Plan for that school year.
A legal birth certificate or other acceptable record shall be required for enrollment age certification.
