Arapahoe High School Junior Jackson Capps was awarded a $20,000 scholarship from participating in the H&R Block Budget Challenge in his Personal Finance class. H&R Block has created an online virtual world in which student’s receive paychecks and pay for life events; student loans, rent, car payments, insurance, credit card bills, unexpected life events while investing in their future through a 401k.

Jackson was diligent on creating a budget while maximizing his investment dollars in his future retirement fund. He competed for the scholarship with over 18,000 students participating throughout the country. He is the first scholarship winner for H&R Block in the state of Colorado!

Personal Finance is now an Arapahoe High school graduation requirement for the class of 2020. The importance of giving financial education to our students before they leave high school is recognized as a life skill that Arapahoe supports for our students and community.
