Spanish

Spanish courses are designed to give students the beginning level proficiencies needed to continue Spanish in high school. It is expected that students will have the commitment and skill level to meet the academic requirements of this course. Students will learn a wide variety of vocabulary with an emphasis on regular/irregular verbs in the present tense, understanding an array of conversations, performing oral and listening exercises, reading and understanding various written passages, writing descriptive paragraphs and simple letters, and recognizing the cultural differences and similarities of Spanish speaking countries.

Spanish courses for 6th grade are designed to give students the beginning level proficiencies to introduce students to the Spanish language and culture. Students who participate in Spanish beyond 6th grade can participate in classes with Mr. Mena for 7th and 8th grade that result in high school credit or Conversational Spanish with Ms. G. Students with Ms. G will learn a wide variety of vocabulary and fundamental grammar while working with all language domains (reading, writing, speaking and listening).
