WORK BASED LEARNING

Thank you to all the EPIC Campus parents who have reached out to connect with us. We are grateful for your interest and assistance in developing new partnerships that will benefit EPIC Campus students as they mature into young professionals ready to launch their careers. It’s not too late to connect with us as we are always looking to expand our industry partnerships. If you want to connect with us, please email Beth Best (BBest@LPS.K12.co.us) or Will Kurtz (wkurtz@LPS.k12.co.us).

We are currently working with 150 students who have signed up for our internship program. Students are working on their resumes in preparation to apply for up to two internship opportunities. Here is a sample resume to use as well. Students can turn in their resumes (printed copy) in the box outside the WBL office located in the West building Health Sciences area on the second floor.

Should you find yourself applying to schools using the Common Application, we have determined a strategy for marketing your EPIC course experience to offer clarity to admissions officials. This can be done within your application. For guidance on how to document this effectively and suggestions tailored to your Pathway, see your EPIC counselor. We are more than happy to help!

INSIDE EPIC CAMPUS

Future Educators had the privilege of a panel conversation with Melissa Cooper, Deputy Superintendent, Carla Burnell, Director of Learning Support Services, and Dr. Courtney Berry, Assistant Director of Learning and Teaching.  Students talked with our guests about exceptional learning in LPS. What an EPIC experience for all.

A group of students are seated in a classroom, listening to a panel of three women who are seated in front of a whiteboard during a presentation or discussion.

Apprenticeship Prep students were out at Home Depot to find materials to build a door and frame!

Five young men in high-visibility vests are listening to a man wearing a vest and safety glasses while seated on a pallet jack, discussing building materials in a warehouse or home improvement store. A group of young men and a woman in high-visibility vests are pushing a cart loaded with lumber and a door in the aisle of a warehouse or large home improvement store. Two adults and two students in high-visibility vests are moving a cart loaded with a white object down an aisle of a home improvement store.

Aerospace students work on growing their shop skills in precision measuring, drilling, and tapping holes. Other students programmed the HAAS Mill for precision drilling- accurate to 1/10,000 of an inch.

A male student wearing safety glasses is closely inspecting a piece of material clamped in a HAAS vise inside an industrial CNC machine. Two male students stand next to a HAAS CNC machine with a NASA banner, one operating the control panel and the other observing. A male student wearing safety glasses and an EPIC Campus polo shirt is working with a small tool and a bench vise on a workbench in a bright machine shop.

Another EPIC harvest on the farm! Students then got to share our bounty with one of our local food banks. The St. Andrew’s market serves over 70 families out of the East Community Center. Science lessons that extend into the community!

A person in a black apron and blue gloves is harvesting lettuce from a tall, vertical hydroponic farm system. Students wearing gloves are bagging fresh leafy greens into brown paper sacks, likely for distribution, on a table. A group of people are gathered in a room that looks like a food pantry, with tables displaying snacks and shelves stocked with canned goods.

Future Educators observed at Field Elementary today.  Future Educators conducted KEEN observations of the great teaching and learning at the elementary school level. So many teachers welcomed us into their classes and took time for conversation. Thanks for hosting us Mrs. Settle and Mrs. Garcia!

A group of approximately 16 students and adults are posing in front of a brick building with a sign that reads EUGENE FIELD ELEMENTARY and Littleton Public Schools. Three adult women observe a teacher and a small group of elementary school students seated at a round table working on a lesson in a colorful classroom.
