Mathletes participate in a buzzer round during a tournament with two teachers looking on.

Littleton Public Schools hosted its annual Math Tournament for fourth and fifth grade students on Friday, April 24 at the Twain Center for Professional Learning. The event brought together 12 teams of young mathematicians from across the district for a day of competition and problem solving.

Each team, made up of three students, competed in a 20-question written test along with three fast paced “speed rounds," where teams went head-to-head to solve challenging math problems. The competition highlighted not only the students’ mathematical skills but also their ability to think and work quickly with each other under pressure.

Schools use a variety of methods to select their teams. Many students participate in Math Olympiad programs throughout the year, with team members often chosen based on their performance in monthly challenges. Other schools selected participants through school-based math clubs and internal competitions.
