First LPS School to Earn This Prestigious National Recognition
Littleton Public Schools is proud to announce that Littleton High School (LHS) has been recognized as a Special Olympics National Banner Unified Champion School, a prestigious honor awarded to only five high schools across Colorado in 2025 (two are new, and three are renewals), and the first ever in LPS history to earn this designation!

This national recognition is a testament to LHS’s deep commitment to inclusion, respect, and the celebration of all students. With this honor, LHS joins a distinguished group of only 24 Colorado high schools that have met the rigorous standards required to become a National Banner School.

“We are so proud of the work our students and staff have done to make this possible,” said Christopher Enzminger, assistant principal and athletics and activities director at LHS. “It takes a community to build inclusion, and this recognition proves that Littleton High School truly embodies this culture.”

What is a Unified Champion School?
Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools promote special inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities affecting systems-wide change. These schools create a climate of acceptance and respect for all, meeting 10 national standards of excellence in the areas of:

  • Inclusive sports (Special Olympics Unified Sports, where students with and without intellectual disabilities train and compete together)

  • Inclusive youth leadership

  • Whole-school engagement

To earn National Banner Recognition, a school must demonstrate excellence in these areas and also show that their programs are sustainable and will continue for years to come. Schools must reapply for banner status every four years.

A Lasting Legacy of Inclusion
LHS will receive its official banner from the Special Olympics Colorado in the coming weeks, a proud symbol of the school’s lasting commitment to a culture where every student feels seen, valued, and included.

Congratulations, Lions!
