The East Community Center (ECC) was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and the delicious smell of sugar cookies on December 11 as families of The Village for Early Childhood Education gathered for the third annual Holiday Cookie Decorating Event. About 130 children, parents, and guardians filled the space for an evening centered around connection, creativity, and holiday cheer.
This year’s celebration marks a special place in the heart of the East Community Center, as the Holiday Cookie Decorating Event was the very first community gathering hosted by ECC after opening its doors in 2023. As the years have passed, the event has grown into a beloved holiday tradition within the Littleton community, connecting families with ECC and creating a welcoming environment for children and families to unite in a space designed just for them.
Little ones eagerly decorated cookies with frosting and sprinkles and enjoyed creating colorful arts and crafts alongside their families. Scratch-art snowflakes with vibrant colors appearing from beneath a black surface became a crowd favorite, adding a touch of holiday magic to the night.
The event would not have been possible without the generosity of ECC’s community partners: Break Bread provided a cozy hot chocolate bar while Littleton Elks donated the cookies, frosting, and sprinkles. Families also enjoyed a delicious Romano’s family-style dinner, which received wonderful feedback from attendees.
A special thank you goes out to the students from Euclid Middle School’s Latinos in Action program for playing a huge role in the event by helping with setup, serving dinner, and collecting books for children. Fabi Vargas and her family also deserve special recognition for their help with decorations and for staying after the event to assist with cleanup.
With full tummies, busy hands, bright smiles, and plenty of cookies, the Holiday Cookie Decorating Event once again brought families together in a meaningful, heartwarming way. As this tradition continues in the years ahead, it serves as a reminder of the joy that comes from celebrating the holiday season as a community.
