The Student Spotlight segment of each Board meeting celebrates a student or a group of students who are living out the Portrait of an LPS Graduate, which highlights the life skills each LPS graduate should have. Tomorrow’s workers will succeed by constantly adapting to the changing world around them, and today’s students must begin by learning and developing life skills - where every student should be well-adjusted, thriving, and balanced.
Additionally, students will develop skills in:
Communication
Global and Cultural Awareness
Character and Critical Thinking
Problem Solving and Adaptability
Creativity and Risk Taking
Resiliency and Collaboration
Self Advocacy
All surrounding Rigorous and Relevant Academic Skills
In LPS, we strive to implement opportunities to grow these skills at every level of education, and we recognize students of all ages.
At the regularly scheduled meeting on January 22, 2026, the Board of Education recognized students from Voyager Program and Next GED Littleton.

Voyager Program
Isa Dixon is currently in her third year at Voyager. When she first enrolled, being at school was important but challenging, as she was navigating unforeseen and formidable circumstances in her life. Through the ups and downs of her first year, Isa refused to give up and worked through each obstacle that she faced in and outside of school with admirable RESILIENCY. Isa has continued to take all available opportunities to advance her education. When she graduates from LPS this spring, Isa will not only have her high school diploma but her CNA (through EPIC Campus), her phlebotomy certificate (through Arapahoe Community College), and be well on her way to an associates degree in health sciences. One of Isa’s teachers captures her demonstration of the Portrait of an LPS Graduate best: "Isa proves herself to be one of the most contemplative, kind, and curious students in the room. Isa routinely shows a genuine interest in learning that goes beyond simply trying to earn a grade or acquire skills for a job. In small groups, Isa’s warmth and humility shine as she frequently takes on a leadership role, making sure everyone is welcome and comfortable to share their ideas, no matter how complex or controversial the topic may be." She consistently demonstrates COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, and CHARACTER. Isa's presence has been a gift to the Voyager community and will be missed when she graduates.
Tianna Smith came to Voyager in the second semester of her sophomore year. There she gained the space, time, and environment to approach school on her terms, and she has thrived. Her RESILIENCY and SELF-ADVOCACY is detailed by one of her teachers, who said: “In the time that I’ve known Tianna, I have seen her grow to become a model student and leader who is willing to ask hard questions and take on increasingly more difficult challenges. Despite juggling multiple responsibilities, Tianna has shown an ability to prioritize her time and effort so that she can learn and do well for herself. Tianna consistently brought a positive attitude and was always willing to help a classmate on an assignment or concept." Outside of Voyager, Tianna explored Health Sciences at EPIC, earning her CNA, and has jumped into the world of Early Child Education, working nearly full-time as an assistant classroom teacher and starting to work on her lead teacher certification. Tianna has become one of the unofficial student ambassadors of Voyager, speaking each semester to new parents and students during our orientation sessions, demonstrating RISK-TAKING and COMMUNICATION to the benefit of many. Tianna has been invaluable to the Voyager community and will be missed.
Next GED Littleton
Phoebe Bryan has embraced the opportunity of being a Next student with courage, determination, and a willingness to TAKE RISKS, demonstrating remarkable RESILIENCY and ADAPTABILITY along the way. Despite the challenges she faced, nothing stopped her from pursuing her goals. Phoebe approached every day with optimism, always showing up to school with a smile and ready to tackle whatever came her way. Phoebe is someone who displays grit, focus, and maturity that many adults have yet to achieve. She consistently shows respect, COMMUNICATES thoughtfully and professionally, and approaches every situation with integrity. We have no doubt that wherever life takes her, she will go far and continue to inspire those around her with her dedication, positivity, and CHARACTER. One of the things we admire most about Phoebe is that she could have graduated last May, yet she chose to stay an extra semester to take full advantage of concurrent enrollment at Arapahoe Community College. At every step, she ADVOCATED FOR HERSELF, tackled new challenges with confidence, and remained focused on her growth. She successfully completed her college courses and earned her GED in December of 2025. Phoebe plans to continue her education at Arapahoe Community College. Phoebe’s story reminds us that courage, optimism, perseverance, and a dedication to growth can open doors to extraordinary opportunities. We are incredibly proud to have worked with her and to celebrate all that she has achieved, and we cannot wait to see all that she will continue to conquer.
