Littleton Public Schools has secured $1 million in one-time federal funding to support accessibility-focused playground upgrades at our elementary schools and the East Community Center.

The funding was requested through the office of Representative Jason Crow as part of the federal Community Project Funding process. This process allows members of Congress to request one-time federal dollars for specific projects that directly benefit their communities. The funding was included in the Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill recently signed into law.

While LPS initially requested $1.5 million, we are grateful to receive $1 million to help advance this important work.

What this means for students and families

These funds will help LPS:

  • Improve playground accessibility for students of all abilities

  • Upgrade aging equipment

  • Enhance safety features

  • Create more inclusive spaces for play and connection

The funding is one-time, but districts are eligible to apply for similar support in future years. LPS plans to continue exploring opportunities through this process to help fund priority projects that benefit students and the broader community.

LPS is grateful for the advocacy and partnership that made this possible and is looking forward to the next steps as the district continues to invest in safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces where every child feels a sense of belonging.
