Step right up! Littleton Public Schools (LPS) cafeterias were transformed into the Greatest Lunch on Earth during the week of October 12 as Nutrition Services celebrated National School Lunch Week! There were special guest servers, fun prizes, and plenty of appreciation for the dedicated staff who keep students fueled and ready to learn.
National School Lunch Week is an annual celebration sponsored by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) that highlights the importance of healthy school lunches and the school nutrition professionals who make them possible. This year’s SNA theme, “Cafeteria Circus,” brought a little extra excitement to lunchtime across LPS.
Throughout the week, members of the LPS Board of Education and district leadership traded their usual responsibilities for serving utensils, stepping behind cafeteria counters at nearly every LPS school to help serve meals to students. These special guest appearances provided an opportunity for district leaders to connect with students and experience firsthand the important work of LPS Nutrition Services staff.
Students also had the chance to win a sweet treat through a special “Lucky Tray” giveaway, courtesy of Yogurtland! At each participating grade level or lunch period, one student who participated in school lunch discovered a winning sticker on their tray and received a $5 Yogurtland voucher.
While the circus-themed festivities brought added excitement to cafeterias, the celebration also shined a spotlight on the dedicated Nutrition Services employees who prepare and serve nutritious meals to LPS students every school day. Their hard work, friendly faces, and commitment to student wellbeing help create welcoming cafeterias where students can recharge, connect with friends, and get the nourishment they need to succeed.
Thank you to our incredible Nutrition Services team, our Board of Education and district leadership guest servers, and Yogurtland for helping make National School Lunch Week a celebration worthy of the big top!
